IMPORTANT SUMMER SCHOOL INFORMATION
(scroll all the way down for class offerings)
Riverside Brookfield High School offers Summer School in a limited number of subjects. Course enrollment numbers, as well as staffing, will determine whether courses are offered or canceled.
REGISTRATION:
Summer School registration will be held from May 1st- May 30th
There are two ways to register and pay for any Academic Course or Camp:
Register through the online registration portal: https://rbhs208.revtrak.net. Upon accessing the portal, families may register and pay for each class/camp, for each student, via the RevTrak® Web Store. There will be a $3 credit/debit card fee assessed for online payment.
Register in person in the Business Office at RBHS during business hours (8:00 am – 3:00 pm). Payment by cash or check can be made in person in the Business Office to avoid the $3 credit/debit card fee.
Payment is due at the time of registration. Families will not be able to register for Summer School without payment.
Chromebooks for online registration will be available in the Business Office for use if families do not have access to a computer.
Currently-enrolled RBHS students will be given priority for registration.
FEES:
All tuition and fees must be paid at the time of registration. Fees are listed per course.
If families received a fee waiver this school year, it remains in effect through the summer and students are able to take an academic course or academic workshop at no cost.
Fees can be paid online using the Revtrak system at https://rbhs208.revtrak.net.
REFUNDS:
If the course/workshop/camp is not offered due to insufficient enrollment or staff availability, a full refund will be issued. No other refunds will be offered. If a student has to be removed from class for any reason, at any time during the course, including on the last day of class, no refunds or credits will be issued.
SIMULTANEOUS PARTICIPATION IN SPORTS CAMPS/OTHER ACTIVITIES:
Students in Summer School may participate in sports camps and other summer activities, but only if such participation does not impact their daily attendance in their summer school classes. Academic programs require complete attendance in order for a student to receive credit; therefore, early release for sports camps or other activities will not be permitted. RB believes in students with diverse interests; however, academics must always come first.
SUMMER SCHOOL PROCEDURES FOR ACADEMIC COURSES
ENTERING AND EXITING THE BUILDING:
Students must enter the building through Door A. If students arrive earlier than 15 minutes before class time, they must wait in the vestibule area at Door A. All students are expected to exit the building within 15 minutes of the end of class unless they are under direct adult supervision. Students are not permitted to be in any location of the building other than where their classes are being held.
ATTENDANCE:
Summer School runs for 18 days, 4 hours per day, for credit-bearing courses.
If a student is unable to attend summer school classes because of illness or an emergency, the parent/guardian must report the absence, along with the reason for absence by 9:00 am on the day of the absence. Parents/guardians should call the Attendance Office at (708) 442-8407 to report absences from Summer School. Please leave a message upon reaching the voicemail system.
Because of the intensified nature of the summer school program, only one day of summer school may be missed for any reason prior to the student being dropped and no credit or refund being issued. This includes absences due to illness. A family vacation is not an acceptable excuse for an absence from Summer School. No incompletes will be issued, nor will any refunds be given for students who are dropped for missing more than one day of Summer School.
A student will be dropped with a “W” under the following conditions:
Any unexcused absences (Note: not returning to class from any scheduled class break will count as an unexcused absence and will result in a student being dropped from the class with no credit or refund.)
More than one (1) excused absence per session of summer school.
Being tardy to class more than two times per semester, including being tardy after any scheduled break.
Summer School is closed on June 19th in observance of Juneteenth.
DISCIPLINE:
All school policies, as noted in the RBHS Student Handbook, will be enforced during summer school. Any violations may warrant disciplinary action being taken or dismissal from the summer program without a tuition refund or class credit, including and up to the last day of attendance.
TRANSPORTATION:
Students are expected to provide their own transportation to and from Summer School. RB student parking is allowed on Rockefeller Road only and is on a first-come, first-served basis. If parking on Rockefeller Road is not available, students will need to find legal parking on their own. Parking on Zoo property is not permitted. Students riding their bicycles should chain and lock their bicycles to the bike racks located outside Door A.
